Pine Flycatcher: January 4, 2009

Choke Canyon State Park, Texas

The bird was seen intermittently until at least noon on January 4 (when I left). There were perhaps 25-30 people, and we all got a least 1 good look at the bird. He seems to make a circuit in the trees, but eventually flies to the barbed wire fence and bare shrubs behind, where he is easy to see at a 15-20 foot distance. The weather was horrible for photos today, so my only good ones are with flash. Good luck to anyone who makes the long drive. I was there under 2 hours to see the bird well and photo it.
