Directions

From Dallas, take Hwy 80 east past Forney. Stay on 80 at the I-20 split. Pass Terrell, and when you come to Wills Point (about 40 miles east of Dallas), exit off 80 and turn North on 47 toward Lake Tawakoni. 47 does a little jog in the town of Wills Point, first to the left and then to the right again- just follow the signs for 47. Keep going north on 47 (about 8 miles?) almost to the lake. Just after you pass 3708 on your left, look on your left for PR 7398, and a sign that says "Holiday Marina". Turn left on PR 7398 toward this small marina. You can follow the road down to the marina (there are restrooms there, and also a little store but the store was closed when I was there). You can park at the marina and make the short walk over to the RV’s to see the Ash-throated Flycatcher. The Loon has been viewed from the marina, but it is easier to see from the Old Van Zandt County Park Boat Ramp (not far- maybe ¼ mile? east of Holiday Marina). To get to the Boat Ramp from 47, turn left on PR 7398 like you were going to the Marina, but instead of driving straight ahead to the marina, turn right on a little road that heads east toward the dam. You’ll come to a paved parking lot and boat ramp ahead on your left.
